Toyota’s strong after-sales support and brand reliability are two more reasons of its popularity. However, the Fortuner will soon receive three new rival SUVs from Volkswagen, Skoda and MG. Volkswagen Tiguan R Line
The German automaker is all set to launch the sportier, performance-focused version of the Tiguan SUV (which is now discontinued) on 14th April 2025. Called the Volkswagen Tiguan R Line, the SUV derives power from a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. This configuration delivers a claimed power of 204bhp and 320Nm of torque. This performance-oriented version accelerates 0 to 100kmph in 7.1 seconds, and attains a top speed of 229kmph.
New-Gen Skoda Kodiaq
The second-generation Skoda Kodiaq will go on sale in India on 17th April 2025. The SUV comes with improved styling and slightly upgraded interior. Under the hood, the 2025 Kodiaq features a 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine, producing a maximum power of 204bhp and 320Nm of torque. Transmission duties are performed by a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. Skoda claims that the SUV offers an ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of 14.86kmpl.
MG Majestor
The official launch date of the MG Majestor is yet to be announced. However, it’s expected to hit roads in the coming months. It’s essentially the more premium version of the updated Gloster, featuring more rugged styling elements. Showcased at this year’s Bharat Mobility Show, the SUV features a larger MG logo, blacked-out grille with horizontal slates, split headlamp setup with slim LED DRLs, a rugged silver bash plate and black cladding running across its length. For power, the Majestor uses the same 216bhp/479Nm, 2.0L, 4-cylinder twin turbo diesel engine, paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
