Updated 2025 Maruti WagonR Launched With New Features

Maruti Suzuki has been updating the smallest of its small cars with new standard features with a heightened focus on passive safety

Maruti Suzuki has quietly updated the WagonR to offer more safety. The company now offers it with six airbags, just like its more expensive hatchbacks like the Swift and Baleno. So far, Maruti Suzuki was offering only two frontal airbags in the WagonR, both as standard. Now the company includes even two front-side airbags and two curtain airbags, improving safety for the driver and front passenger and extending safety to the rear passengers.

Like the frontal airbags, the front-side airbags and curtain airbags are included in all the grades of the WagonR. Maruti Suzuki has yet to update its website to reflect the safety revisions in the WagonR and the same goes for the product brochure. In addition to six airbags, the company offers the WagonR with Hill Hold Assist, front fog lamps, and a speed-sensitive automatic door-locking system. However, these safety features are not part of the standard equipment.

Maruti Suzuki offers the WagonR in LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+ grades, although some features do vary even as per the engine and transmission selected. On the outside, 14-inch alloy wheels, two-tone paint, and power-folding mirrors are some of the key features of the Maruti WagonR. Inside, Maruti Suzuki provides features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a four-speaker sound system, steering-mounted audio and voice controls, and a two-tone colour scheme.

As for the engine options, Maruti Suzuki gives customers a choice between petrol and bi-fuel petrol-CNG. The petrol variant of the Maruti WagonR can be had with the K10C 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine that produces 49.0 kW (66 hp) and 89.0 Nm of torque or the K12C 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine that develops 66 kW (88 hp) and 113 Nm of torque. Both engines come paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, but customers can opt for a 5-speed automated manual unit instead.

The bi-fuel variant uses a detuned version of the K10C engine. In petrol mode, this engine produces 48 kW (64 hp) and 89 Nm of torque, while in CNG mode, these numbers change to 41.7 kW (56 hp) and 82.1 Nm, respectively. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard and an AMT option is not available in this variant.
