Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line gets R-Line specific visual updates and it will be brought into the country via CBU route
Volkswagen is gearing up to re-enter the spotlight with the India debut of the new Tiguan R-Line, scheduled for launch today. Under the hood, it packs a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder petrol engine which is good enough to churn out 204 PS maximum power and 320 Nm of peak torque, channelled to the brand’s all-wheel-drive setup via a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission.
In terms of size, the new Tiguan R-Line stretches 4,539 mm long, spans 1,859 mm wide and stands 1,656 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,680 mm. It will be brought into the country as a full import. Step inside, and you will be greeted by a 26.04 cm fully digital cockpit that dominates the dashboard, offering customisable display modes to suit the driver’s preferences.
Taking the centre stage is VW’s fourth-gen Modular Infotainment Toolkit (MIB4) which ties the whole interface together with a focus on clarity and responsiveness. At the middle of the dash is a 38.1 cm infotainment touchscreen, featuring an updated interface. Complementing the setup is a newly designed multi-function switch housing its own TFT LCD display.

It is paired with a sharp head-up display that beams key driving data right into the driver’s field of view. On the outside, the Tiguan R-Line gets a sharp LED light bar running across the front, flanked by LED headlamps and animated 3D-effect LED tail lamps that add visual drama at the rear. It rolls on 19-inch diamond-cut ‘Coventry’ alloys and wears ‘R’ badging to set it apart.
The premium touch continues inside where sport seats offer both lumbar support and an integrated massage function. Other highlights include refined surface textures, signature ‘R’ branding throughout the cabin, an eight-speaker audio unit, illuminated interior accents, 30-colour ambient lighting, automatic climate control system, brushed stainless steel pedals and a panoramic sunroof.

Reservations for the new Tiguan R-Line are open across authorised Volkswagen outlets in India and online, and it will compete with full size SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, soon-launching Skoda Kodiaq, MG Gloster which is getting a more premium avatar in the form of the Majestor later this year and others.
