Hyundai has introduced Insteroid, a gaming-inspired concept vehicle, at an exclusive event in Seoul. Developed as a radical reinterpretation of the Hyundai Inster electric compact SUV, the Hyundai Insteroid experiments with sporty design elements and performance-driven elements. It will help expand consumer interest in the Inster lineup according to the brand.
The Hyundai Insteroid made its debut at Peaches D8NE in Seoul and will be exhibited at the Seoul Mobility Show between April 3 and 13. The brand’s European design team developed Insteroid as a conceptual project as it wants to push boundaries of sporty electric vehicle design. The name combines “Inster” and “Steroid,” emphasising its muscular appearance.
The vehicle follows in the footsteps of the previously introduced Inster Cross which explored off-road capabilities while Insteroid takes a different direction by focusing on track-inspired styling and peppy driving characteristics. The concept features widened bodywork, aerodynamic components like a wing spoiler and diffuser and track optimised wheels.

Inside, the stripped-down cockpit comprises a roll cage, bucket seats and a specialised instrument cluster, reiterating its sporty nature. A unique sound signature has been incorporated to elevate the immersive driving dynamics, as per Hyundai. Driver interaction is further enhanced through a Beat House sound system and a Message Grid display.
The Hyundai Insteroid’s Drift Mode provides a balance between high-performance handling and everyday driving engagement. The vehicle’s lightweight structure integrates lattice materials to improve efficiency and reduce weight. Its exterior is finished in a soft white shade with a contrast orange accent while a matching race suit featuring Insteroid branding.

Hyundai has also integrated eco-conscious materials such as 3D knit fabric made from recycled yarns, in line with its sustainability initiatives. To generate excitement around the concept, Hyundai offered interactive experiences at the launch event. Visitors engaged in a time attack game where they collected virtual “steroid” items to upgrade Inster into Insteroid.
The game will be publicly available in April via an online platform. Additionally, Insteroid will be introduced as a new addition in “Kartrider Rush+”. Insteroid will be presented at the Seoul Mobility Show where attendees can experience its design firsthand. Hyundai continues to expand the Inster lineup’s presence with strong global demand driving plans for its introduction in additional markets.
