With EV3 crowned 2025 World Car Of The Year, Kia now holds six World Car Awards in the 21-year history of the program
The 2025 World Car Awards drew to a close at the New York International Auto Show where the winners in six global categories were crowned during a live ceremony. Marking the final chapter of “The Road to World Car 2025,” a global journey that began on September 30, 2024, the Kia EV3, has been officially crowned the 2025 World Car of the Year.
A panel of 96 seasoned automotive journalists from 30 countries participated in the vote, tabulated by KPMG. Each jury member evaluated eligible vehicles before narrowing an initial list of 52 contenders to three finalists — the BMW X3, Hyundai Inster/Casper Electric and the Kia EV3. To qualify, vehicles had to be sold in at least two major markets across two continents.
They should be priced below luxury levels and produced in volumes exceeding 10,000 units per year between January 1, 2024 and March 30, 2025. The win marks a second consecutive and third overall World Car of the Year title for Kia. Following the EV9’s victory in 2024 and the Telluride’s in 2020, the EV3 adds to Kia’s growing reputation for delivering globally competitive models.
