Kia Syros BNCAP Rating – 1st Kia To Get 5 Star Safety!

Bharat NCAP has released the crash test results for the Kia Syros. The premium subcompact SUV has received the top 5-star rating for both adult occupant protection (AOP) and child occupant protection (COP). It has scored 30.21 points out of 32 in AOP and 44.42 points out of 49 in COP, which are quite impressive. It’s important to note that the safety rating is applicable to all six trims (HTK, HTK (O), HTK+, HTX, HTX+ and HTX+ (O)) of the Syros.

Crash Tests & Results:

The Syros underwent multiple critical safety tests, including the Offset Deformable Barrier (ODB) Frontal Impact at 63.95 km/h, Mobile Deformable Barrier (MDB) Side Impact Test at 50.17 km/h, and Pole Side Impact at 29.17 km/h.

In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the subcompact SUV provided adequate to good protection to the driver’s and co-driver’s chest. It also offered good protection to the head, neck, and pelvis regions of both front passengers. The tibias and right-side tibia of the co-driver were rated as adequate, while the driver’s feet and the co-driver’s left tibia were rated as good.

The Kia Syros secured 16 points out of 16 in the side movable deformable barrier test. All body parts of the driver and the front passenger were well protected. However, the driver’s chest protection was rated as adequate.

The Kia Syros managed to score 23.42 points out of 24 in the dynamic tests (thanks to its child restraint systems), 7.58 points out of 8 in the frontal impact protection for the 18-month-old child, and 4 out of 4 in the side impact protection for the 18-month-old child.

The subcompact SUV received 7.84 points out of a maximum of 8, and 4 out of 4 in the front and side impacts for the 3-year-old child’s protection, respectively.
