Mahindra Streamlines BE 6 & XEV 9e Deliveries In India – Key Info

Mahindra’s new EVs exclusively sold in the top-end trims currently, with the remaining trims to follow between June and August

After a few initial hiccups, Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e deliveries have normalised. Some customers were reportedly disappointed by the way Mahindra repeatedly delayed deliveries of the new EVs earlier. Veejay Nakra, who is currently the President of the Automotive Division at Mahindra and confirmed to be moved to the same position at the Farm Equipment Business, has said that the company needed to update the vehicle software before delivering the BE 6 and XEV 9e to customers.

238 units of 4,000 delivered since March were facing a “software patch update issue,” Nakra, Economic Times reported. Only the first batch of EVs that Mahindra shipped to dealerships faced a delay in being delivered to customers. The company shipped all the later batches with the updated software that didn’t require patches.

Nakra suggested there was no problem with the BE 6 or XEV 9e that needed fixing. Apparently, the company was trying to make the EVs even safer than they already are.

Some customers felt the BE 6 and XEV 9e were scarily quick, so Mahindra wanted to tweak their power delivery, ensuring inexperienced drivers don’t lose control and meet accidents. A new default drive mode relaxes the power delivery following the software update. This revision also includes safety alerts that encourage customers to drive responsibly.

Mahindra offers the BE 6 and XEV 9e in standard-range RWD and long-range RWD variants. The former has a 228 hp/380 Nm motor and 59 kWh LFP battery pack, while the latter upgrades to a 282 hp/380 Nm motor and a 79 kWh LFP battery pack. The BE 6 travels 557 km in the standard-range RWD variant and 683 km in the long-range variant. The XEV 9e’s range figures in the same variants are 542 km and 656 km, respectively.
