Red Bull Racing Unveils Special Livery for 2025 Japanese GP

Must read

Oracle Red Bull Racing is set to honour a championship-winning partnership with Honda at this week’s 2025 Japanese GP with a spectacular team takeover in Tokyo and Suzuka. Here’s everything you need to know about this historic celebration:

A Tribute to Honda’s Legacy

With Max Verstappen and his new Japanese teammate Yuki Tsunoda gearing up for Suzuka, Oracle Red Bull Racing will mark the final season of one of the most successful collaborations in motorsport history. The team will unveil a special livery inspired by Honda’s RA272—the car that clinched Honda’s first-ever Formula One victory.

The eye-catching red and white design will be showcased on both Oracle Red Bull Racing RB21s, commemorating the 60th anniversary of Honda’s 1965 milestone. This tribute integrates the RA272’s iconic Japanese flag motif, with the classic “H” logo on the nose and a minimalistic Honda logo on the rear bodywork. Additionally, a special emblem celebrating six decades since Honda’s first F1 triumph will be featured across all four Red Bull cars on the grid.

Honouring Honda in Style

This is not the first time Oracle Red Bull Racing has raced in white to honour Honda. In 2021, the team debuted a similar tribute livery at the Turkish Grand Prix, where Verstappen and Sergio Pérez secured a double podium.

Christian Horner, CEO and Team Principal, expressed his admiration for Honda’s impact:

“Our relationship with Honda deserves celebration. It has been a partnership of sustained success, delivering one of the most triumphant periods in our history. Max has won four World Championships with a Honda power unit, and together, we’ve lifted two Constructors’ titles. Honda’s reliability was a key factor in our record-breaking 2023 season. This livery is a fitting tribute to their legacy and the final year of an incredible journey. I can’t wait to see it on track.”

Koji Watanabe, President of Honda Racing Corporation (HRC), echoed the sentiment:

“Seeing the RA272 tribute livery on Red Bull Racing’s latest machine in our final year together is deeply moving. Our shared success will forever be a proud chapter in F1 history.”

Tokyo Takeover and the REBL Car Culture Meet

Oracle Red Bull Racing’s celebration extends beyond the track with an electrifying Tokyo takeover ahead of the Grand Prix. On Tuesday evening, the REBL Car Culture Meet will bring together Japanese car enthusiasts to celebrate the nation’s deep-rooted automotive heritage.

In a nod to Honda’s influence, a legendary ’90s Honda NSX—wrapped in a matching RB21 livery—will be displayed alongside an Oracle Red Bull Racing show car, offering fans a first look at the 2025 Japanese GP design. A customization station will offer bespoke REBL Car Culture merchandise, and a unique three-way collaboration between iconic Japanese streetwear brand Neighborhood, Honda, and Oracle Red Bull Racing will be launched.

A First-of-Its-Kind Red Bull Showrun in Tokyo

For the first time ever, the REBL Car Culture Meet will be followed by a thrilling Red Bull Showrun through the streets of Tokyo on Wednesday. All four Red Bull F1 drivers—Max Verstappen, Yuki Tsunoda, New Zealand’s Liam Lawson, and rookie Isack Hadjar—will participate in a historic showcase.

The event will feature a Honda RA272, the RB16B (which powered Verstappen’s first title-winning season), and two RB7s from Red Bull’s Heritage collection—cars that secured double World Championships for the team.

Special Edition Team Gear Ahead of the 2025 Japanese GP

Oracle Red Bull Racing’s tribute extends beyond the livery, with Team kit partner Castore creating a limited-edition white, red, and black polo to match the car’s aesthetic. This exclusive apparel will be worn by the entire team, including Red Bull’s record-breaking pit crew.

For the race, Verstappen and Tsunoda will don custom white, red, and black Sparco race suits, complemented by special edition Japan GP helmets—ensuring they look the part as they take on Suzuka in this momentous tribute to Honda’s unparalleled legacy in Formula One.
